makeing a movie
The most important part for most of The Movies' films will of course be filming. After all, what would be a game which bears the name The Movies without the corresponding function? In various trailers and movies you could already observe very well how this is done.
First of all you have to write a script, of course. Here, you should pay attention to the actors you have available. For what actor the Horrorfilmen monster will be, an Oscar suspicious achievement as an action hero will deliver? There are several genres for you to choose from. Where, of course, you should pay attention to the time you are in. In the 1920s, for example, it would be inappropriate to let a fiery flail run through a city. Because this is the time of the silent films and the people here expect some comedy from you. In the 1940s, on the other hand, it would be unwise to film a film in which a lot of naked skin appears, because this was strongly boycotted at this time. After all, you do not want to end up as a scandal director. The available genres are: romance / drama, horror, action, comedy and science fiction.
After the script is finished, it goes to the selection of the actors. As in the preparation of the script you should pay attention here to the qualities of the respective actors. In case of need you have to create a completely new character, which will surely not deliver the role of your life and thus gives you also no ringing Kinokassen. So you should take the best possible actor for the respective starring role. For main roles, you should of course take actors who already have good references.
After the selection of the actors the set-up of the set is in line. This is relatively regulated and linear. In Movies you can shoot on prefabricated sets. These can be placed comfortably, as well as the buildings, by drag and drop on the premises of the studio. As an example, we take a horror strip and the matching three sets: cabin inside, gloomy basement and huts outside. The first part of the film was to take place in the abandoned hut, where the main actor couple would come closer, only to be scared and frightened by a vampire who lived in the dark basement. The love scene is thus turned into a set, which is to represent the interior of the hut. Then the scene is to be shot with the awakening vampire. For this, of course, you need a new set. So a cellar set with a coffin is built up in it. In this the actor can take place and the first horror scene is in the box. Then the woman is to save the day in which she kills the vampire with a weapon of your choice. For this a third set is needed, which shows the hut from the outside and the surrounding forest.
How violent or romantic it is in your productions go by the way you can determine by the way during the actual film rotation itself. To do this, select the set in which you are currently producing, and immediately a number of bars will be displayed. With these you can determine, for example, the romanticism of the scene. The slider in the right area of the bar would make the whole thing a little more explicit. In the left area, on the other hand, there is only a hand kiss or a fleeting embrace.
After the filming is finished, the film, as in a real film production, also migrates to post-production. Here the film is cut and if necessary after-dosed. There is even the possibility to play your own soundtrack. In the studio, scenes must be cut out too brutally or too romantic. So you also immediately the youth protection or various filmprotestanten from the neck, which are otherwise released on you.
After closing all these steps, the film is ready for the premiere and the subsequent screenings in the cinema. But what would be a movie without the appropriate media hype and advertising? Lionhead has also thought of this, so you have to turn on the advertising drum so that your movie brings you high profits. To do this, you can promote your film so often until it reaches the maximum attention, and you can submit your actors and directors to the same marketing. Because if the main actor as well as the director are well-known to the audience, the probability of the film becoming a blockbuster increases.
And then you can finally sit back and watch the success or failure of your streak. As in the case of the right films, there are also award awards and thus also nominations for your film, the soundtrack, the actors, the director, or the countless other categories in which the Oscar is awarded. What Peter Molyneux has devised for the first add-on you can read under that point.
